Congratulations to Emma Alexander who has just been awarded an NIHR Doctoral Training Fellowship. At PCC Research Incubator, we are proud to support her research journey. Emma has kindly agreed to share her experience and will be one of the tutors at the PCC Research Fellowship Writing Retreat in November 2025.
On 15 July 2025, we conducted our first ever PCC Research PPIE + Researchers session. 5 members of our newly formed, national PPIE group helped 3 researcher teams with feedback on their research proposals, due to be submitted this Autumn. Whilst thanking our PPIE group, we wish the best of luck to the researchers involved. More PPIE activities are planned and we are still seeking volunteers for an online-only, national patient & public involvement and engagement (PPIE) group for PCC Research. If you are over 18, with lived experience of PCC/PICU, we would love if you could join the PCC Research PPIE group . More information on the group remit and how it operates can be found here.

“ Last summer I had the opportunity to take part in a clinical research internship funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The scheme provided first-hand exposure to real-world healthcare research as an undergraduate, and equipped me with valuable skills in data collection, handling, and analysis, while offering insight into the role of the clinical nurse researcher.”
